Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon

The 25th Annual Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon, led by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Austin Chapter, brought a sold-out crowd to the Hyatt Regency Austin. Event Co-Chairs Kristi Katz Gordy and Eric Scott managed to interrupt the buzz of conversation to greet all those attending. A very special guest, Andrew Watt (National President & CEO, Association of Fundraising Professionals) provided encouraging and motivating comments. Serving as Master of Ceremonies was Rebecca Powers, Founder of Impact Austin. From this point on, it was a bedlam of sustained applause for the honorees: Arlene Miller (Outstanding Fundraising Professional); Emily Moreland (Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser); Whole Foods Market (Outstanding Philanthropic Large Corporation); Pediatric Dental Professionals, Founder Danny Watts (Outstanding Philanthropic Small or Medium Corporation); Claire Labry, Karlie Franke, Bridget Black (Kelly Davidson Memorial Outstanding Philanthropic Youth); Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation/Organization); Austin American-Statesman Season for Caring Campaign (Special Recognition); Erika S. Herndon (Outstanding Philanthropist). The cumulative effect of this group is impossible to calculate–but the smiles of thousands are certainly a testimony to good works.
