“Women on Their Toes” Keeps Dancing

“Women on Their Toes” gathered for a Platinum Celebration to cheer for the 20th anniversary of the stellar luncheon benefiting Ballet Austin. Event Chair Jessica Johnson with Co-Chair Lorelei McDevitt joined Ballet Austin Guild President Betty Oltorf in welcoming the full-house crowd that poured into the Hyatt Regency Austin Hotel for the occasion. As they visited, much discussion revolved around which raffle package they wanted to buy tickets for from the six choices. Considerable urging was needed to move the crowd into the ballroom for lunch and the program. Emcees Jade Mingus (KVUE) and Cassie Gallo (KEYE) were the consummate professionals in moving the program along. The slide presentation listing the Women on Their Toes honorees over the past 20 years drew constant applause. Equally applauded was keynote speaker Rachel Moore (CEO of American Ballet Theatre) who is leading the Project Plie Initiative. This project is a concentrated effort nationwide to diversify the ethnic composition of both ballet dancers and instructors.
