The Women’s Fund of Central Texas celebrated the 10th Anniversary of “Power of the Purse.” Guests filled the ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel with excited cheers when they learned the Fund had surpassed $1 million dollars in grants. A greeting by Women’s Fund Chair Jolynn Free was followed by recognition of the “First Ladies” by Donna Stockton Hicks. (First Ladies make a 5 year commitment to the Fund which provides essential stability in forward planning.) A Report Card on Women and Children was delivered by Julia Spann  with Lynn Meredith providing the Keynote remarks. Lynn showed that her endless talents do indeed include public speaking with a fascinating discourse on the beneficial effects to those who give, not to mention the recipients.

Grant recipients this year: ACE: A Community for Education; American Gateways; Austin Child Guidance Center; Capital IDEA; Casa Marianella; Foster Angels of Central Texas; Green Doors; LifeWorks and Planned Parenthood. All of the grants go to programs that provide services to women and children.
