Jazz and the Art of Celebration

Posted at January 14, 2014 by Comments Off on Jazz and the Art of Celebration

As part of the centennial celebration of Congregation Agudas Achim, fans of all faiths gathered for an evening of Jazz and the Art of Celebration. Event Chair Harriett Kirsh Pozen was joined by Centennial Co-Chairs Ginny Belofsky and Diane Radin in welcoming guests. Of the many reasons to celebrate on this evening, the 15th anniversary of service in Austin by Rabbi Neil Blumofe was primary. Rabbi Neil has been of extraordinary service to the entire community since arriving 15 years ago as Austin’s first professional cantor. He has continuously expanded his role in Austin with participation in programs at Seton Cove, teaching at St. Edwards University, sitting on the boards of the Texas Freedom Network and the Interfaith Action of Central Texas. In his “spare” time, Rabbi Neil produces and performs at the Cactus Café in the Jazz and Art series for Views and Brews sponsored by KUT radio. For this evening, Rabbi Neil and all assembled greatly enjoyed the performance of the Marcus Roberts Trio.
