Mardi Gras Soiree Benefits A World for Children

Posted at February 23, 2012 by Comments Off

The good times were definitely present at the Austin Country Club for the 5th Annual Diamonds in the Rough Gala benefiting A World for Children. Event Co-Chairs Melinda Kirchhoff and Tami Schroeder enjoyed the support of a great committee in creating a Mardi Gras themed soiree that filled the ballroom of the club.

Guests arrived to find a silent auction extravaganza with cocktails to sip as they perused the treasures. It was with great difficulty that Emcee Fareed Tulbah was able to draw the crowd into the dining area. After greetings and an invocation, all enjoyed a superlative dinner created by Executive Chef Bob Burns and his crew in the Austin Country Club kitchen. Then the action really began to heat up on a cool evening with a live auction followed by dancing the night away.

The mission of A World for Children is to serve abused and neglected children in Texas. They provide treatment services, medical services and train loving foster families. In addition, they provide “Jump Start” which provides clothing and hygiene for newly arrived children; “School Supplies” to help children start the school year with all they need: “Christmas” a safe, loving Christmas experience; “Summer Adventure”
recently a trip to Fiesta Texas with their classmates and friends.
